The opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Structural Biologist to join the Odyssey team at our site in Boston where you will be a key contributor to the structural enablement of pipeline discovery projects. You will employ cutting-edge structural techniques such as cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography in a cost-effective, efficient manner. You will use your expertise to better understand mechanisms of action and structural aspects of protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions, and to guide protein therapeutic design. You will oversee the production of quality proteins in support of biophysical and structural analyses. Working closely within therapeutic project teams, you will determine and communicate the structures of both protein-small molecule complexes and multiprotein complexes. In this primarily lab-based role, you will be a key contributor to the application of internal and external resources and capabilities necessary to drive biophysics and structural biology efforts. ­

­Primary responsibilities: ­
• Contribute and collaborate on the design and enablement of structural biology strategies across a portfolio of discovery programs ­
• Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure efficient protein design, protein expression and purification, sample preparation for structural studies, data collection, structure determination and communication of high-quality protein structural information to project teams
• Collaborate with computational and medicinal chemists on structure-guided design approaches and actively participate in driving optimization of biologics and small-molecule chemical matter in a priority-driven environment
• Partner with colleagues in biochemistry and biophysics, molecular and cell biology, and other functional groups to drive project progression
• Participate in the scientific, technical, and operational aspects of structural biology for drug discovery programs ­
• Remain scientifically current with new technologies to enhance and complement structural biology capabilities ­
• Support laboratory organization and maintenance in a fast-paced environment ­­

About you: ­
• Outstanding collaboration skills and experience ­
• Doctoral degree with a focus on structural biology, with the demonstrated ability to employ cryo-EM or X-ray crystallography to visualize proteins and their complexes. Expertise with both techniques is preferred. ­
• Minimum 2 years postdoctoral or 2 industrial research experience ­
• Ability to scientifically challenge others in a constructive manner ­
• Record of innovative thinking to propose and champion new ideas and solve problems ­
• Record of accomplishment as demonstrated by a strong record of publications and presentations in the application of structural biology techniques ­
• Strong written and oral communication skills necessary to deliver scientific results and presentations clearly and in a timely manner ­
• Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to influence to achieve desired outcome ­
• Experience with the analysis and optimization of antibody/antigen interactions desired ­
• Proven planning and tracking skills, able to see big picture, well-organized, focused on results, capable of managing multiple projects, excellent time management with respect to priorities and self-management ­
• Skilled in recombinant protein design, prokaryotic and eukaryotic protein expression, and protein purification for structural biology needs ­
• Working knowledge of medicinal chemistry, molecular and cell biology, biophysics, biochemistry, and bioassay development desired ­
• Experience working with structural biology CROs, from construct design to expression to structure solution desirable ­
• A passion and sense of urgency for delivering structural insights that make a meaningful impact on discovery programs ­
• Ability to navigate and succeed in a fast-paced, interactive, and collaborative work environment ­
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively ­
• Ability to scientifically challenge others in a constructive manner and demonstrate exceptional team working skills (e.g., approachable and collaborative) ­
