The Fail2Fair project, funded by the OSCARS Open Calls (oscars-project.eu/open-calls), aims to learn from failure (and where possible turn failure into success! ). This will require developing a pipeline to annotate and classify crystallographic datasets and integrate them into the SciCat metadata catalogue, an Open Research Data infrastructure established at the PSI (Paul Scherrer Institute). Within this collaboration, we have a two year position to fill in Barcelona.
We are looking for candidates with expertise in either 1-crystallographic methods, experiments and data, and/or 2-programming skills and experience in AI and ML frameworks. Scientific curiosity and commitment to develop in their less proficient area are expected.
Further qualifications:
• PhD (or equivalent research experience) in Structural Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience with metadata standards, data annotation, and data management systems is an asset.
The project involves a collaboration among the groups of Kay Diederichs (University Konstanz, Germany) and Filip Leonarski (PSI, Switzerland) and Isabel Usón (IBMB-CSIC, Spain), so teamwork skills and effective communication in English are essential.
Applicants should send their CV, a motivation letter (1 page max), and contact information for two academic references to uson@ibmb.csic.es. Applications will be reviewed continuously until the position is filled.
