Work Context
Located in the Grenoble European Photon Neutron (EPN) Campus (ESRF/ILL/EMBL/IBS), the Institute of Structural Biology (IBS) is a national and international leading center in the field of integrated structural biology. At the same time as a research center, technical facility, reception and scientific training site, the IBS aims to develop structural biology science, a crucial field of research for understanding fundamental biological mechanisms. It contains 12 state-of-the-art facilities.
As a mixed research unit (CEA-CNRS-UGA) the IBS is composed of 21 research groups, each one offering a multi-disciplinary approach, at the frontiers of biology, physics and chemistry, in line with 3 axes of research. Nearly 300 people work there: researchers, doctoral students, engineers and technicians in a multicultural and international environment. The recruited person will join the Dynamop group which focuses on the study of the structural dynamics of biological macromolecules: https://www.ibs.fr/en/research/assembly-dynamics-and-reactivity/dynamics-and-kinetics-of-molecular-processes-group-m-weik/?lang=en .
Constraints and risks
Possibility, when carrying out experiments in facilities for the use of X-rays (even off-site), of working out of normal hours (weekends and/or nights). The research will be carried out either in French or English, however it is expected that the non-French speaking candidate will endeavor to learn the basics of French in order to facilitate communication and integration into the laboratory.
